cool… | Las Vegas Photographer
This post is way overdue, but I wanted to make sure I mention my awesome experience at my mentoring session with Diana of Yan Photography last month. I had the best time! She is such a genuinely nice and cool person. I also got to meet her husband Martin and he is just as nice and cool as she is. We had the most amazing french toast for breakfast and spent the day discussing all things photography. Could there be anything cooler? (you don’t really have to answer that)
We had a photoshoot with a really cute family in this cool laundromat. Yan did most of the shooting while I stood quietly observing. I did sneak in a few shots…could this little girl be any cuter?
I just wanted to thank Diana for a great day and for all of the great advice! I am looking forward to this year.
And did I mention how cool it was in Provo? I nearly froze my rear end off

February 8, 2010 - 11:13 pm - hi melissa! you don't know me since i was no longer living at home when you moved in, but we are apparently neighbors! my maiden name is stevens and we are living in my parent's house (rick and carolyn) til the end of the summer. i was told you also do photography by the ladies in RS and thought i'd come check it out. you do some seriously awesome work! just wanted to let you know i like your photos and new blog. it's also fun to recognize a lot of your clients :) your daughter's name was actually brought up as a possible babysitter. we have 2 little ones. well, hopefully i'll meet you soon. i'm home most all the time if you ever want to get together and talk/do photography :)

LeFevre - part 3.
Finally part 3! I swear I didn’t forget…it has just been so crazy around here with all of the Christmas activities and preparations. And when you are crazy busy with no extra time for anything, of course you get sick. All is well now and we are officially ready for the holidays.

This little guy is just awesome. He has enough personality for ten kids. He had us cracking up the entire time.

The Halas Family
You can’t tell by looking, but 4 out of 5 of this beautiful family were sick, and have been for a month. Mom called the night before to give me a heads up “just in case” they weren’t up to it. I am so glad everything worked out and we went ahead with the session and didn’t reschedule. It was a bit cool and windy but the kids didn’t seem to mind. And they were so much fun to be with. I wanted to take the kids home with me and have big sister teach me how to do a jazz walk!
One of my favorite parts of photography, that I didn’t anticipate, is getting to become an honorary member of the family when I take pictures of people. I get to be a part of their private interactions with each other and experience their family dynamics. I am grateful each and every time that they trust me enough to let me in and give me an opportunity to be a part of it.

I love this family.
We met three years ago when their son and mine started kindergarten together. The boys became instant friends, and so did Colleen and I. She is so easy to be friends with.
I am grateful to know them.
